One of most important lessons you will learn in life is to continue pushing yourself to be better in everything that you do. No matter how bad you are at something, you can be better, and no matter how good you are at something, you can also be better. The people who grow up believing this and applying it to everything they do become very successful.
So, if you want to be a successful person who does amazing things for their family, friends and makes a big difference in the world, you should learn about what it takes to be better and start practicing these behaviours as a child so that they will become part of you when you grow up.
Be Self-aware
As a child, you need to know the right things to do and what your parents and teachers expect you to do at home, at school and everywhere. Sometimes you will not do the right things, so you must apologise, take corrections, and make sure that you don’t do the wrong things again. As you grow older, you will make fewer mistakes, and even when you make mistakes, you will learn from them, and everyone loves people who take corrections and learn from their mistakes.
Be Disciplined
There is a time for everything - to play, to study, to rest, to eat. There is a time to have your own computer or phone or do some of the things you see older children or adults do. Children who understand that there is a time for everything do not get into trouble with their teachers and parents. Also, because they are very disciplined, they do very well in anything they do – school, sports, hobbies, anything!
Be Friendly
Successful people are very good at making friends and taking care of the people around them. They care about what other people need and feel and are kind, polite, and well-behaved not just to elders but to their friends and everyone they meet. They greet adults, say use the three magic words, and never treat others badly. As you grow up through school and university and become an adult, you will find that friendly people always get help and support from others, so they are always successful.
Keep Learning
There is an old saying that experience is the best teacher, but the best students don’t wait to experience something before they learn it; they learn from other people’s experiences. They learn from their parents, teachers, pastors, imams, and older siblings. They learn from schoolwork, books, movies, songs, the internet, anything and everything. They ask questions, listen, and do lots of research. They don’t just have a lot of information, but they have a lot of wisdom to solve lots of problems.
Manage the Ups and Downs of Life
Whether you like it or not, some bad things happen in life. If you are going to be successful, you need to be able to face your failures and improve. Like if you didn’t get a particular grade that you wanted in one of your subjects, if you did not pass the exams to a secondary school you wanted, or if you did not get the gift or toy you wanted on your birthday. Successful people keep pushing to be better when bad things happen, and when good things happen, like when they win a competition or a prize, they don’t get too proud and stop trying to be better.
